South Bend television station WNDU won eight honors at the Indiana Broadcasters Association's 2026 Spectrum Awards on Tuesday, Oct. 27, including its fourth consecutive TV Station of the Year award.

The recognition covers Indiana television stations outside the Indianapolis market, according to the Indiana Broadcasters Association.

WNDU reported that it earned 19 finalist placements across 12 categories before winning eight awards at this year's ceremony.

Awards span news, sports and community work

In addition to Station of the Year, WNDU received seven category awards, according to the station's Oct. 28 announcement.

Its news honors included Best TV News Feature for "A Sense of Service" and Best TV Investigative Reporting for "Running Cold Once Again."

The station also won Best TV Sports Show for its Notre Dame–USC coverage and Best Digital Media Presence.

Its community-impact award recognized work involving Cultivate Food Rescue, a South Bend nonprofit that recovers surplus food and distributes meals to people facing food insecurity.

Two advertising honors recognized an individual commercial for Ivy Alley Social House and a campaign for South Bend Medical Foundation.

Fourth consecutive top honor

The Spectrum Awards recognize work produced by radio and television broadcasters across Indiana.

The association's Station of the Year recognition is determined through performance in the awards competition, including finalist placements and category wins.

WNDU also won the title in 2023, 2024 and 2025, completing its fourth consecutive year at the top of its television market category.

In 2025, WNDU received six Spectrum Awards, according to its previous awards coverage.

The station is an NBC affiliate owned by Gray Media, with studios on the University of Notre Dame campus.

Indiana broadcasters recognized

Nearly 200 people attended the Oct. 27 ceremony, where the association presented more than 50 awards across radio and television categories.

The 2026 competition included separate television markets for Indianapolis and the rest of Indiana.

The association publishes its award results and recognition categories online.
